Bayswater/AMP Records proudly presents the debut release of S O N G 's In The Fireplace, a unique fusion of hip hop and jazz. S O N G 's music speaks to the passion, longing and uncertainty that people face in everyday life. Thirteen powerful cuts, each one complete, distinct and phenomenal. This is truly new flavor in your ear and undoubtedly the next frontier in music. |
S O N G 's sultry, in-your-face vocal stylings raps itself around original lyrics and music. She invites you to sway to the music, become one with the music. With gusty, tantalizing lyrics, she picks up where Phyllis Hyman left offand delivers them with the force and conviction of a young Chaka Khan. Yet, she looks to those artistic influences, S O N G knows no boundaries. She draws upon the creative forces in the universe and takes that spirit-filled energy to a place where music- the universal langauge- is celebrated. There's no mistaking that this artist is more than just a woman in front of a band; her voice is one with the band. |
Born OcSong (Oak Song) Williamson in Detroit, Michigan, S O N G , as she was affectionately called by her father, is one of fifteen children. Her earliest memory of singing was as a child to the tune Low Rider by War. She joined her first singing group at the age of 17, Broadway Babies. Although the group was short lived, S O N G caught the fever for performing. As a student at Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas, she worked various jobs and became aware of the music festival South-by-Southwest. It was there that she saw her first live band perform and with a friend's encouragement, she later joined a local band and has been performing ever since. S O N G now lives between Houston, Texas and Paris, France. |
